Definition of Courage

Quote by MLK

“Courage is an inner resolution to go forward despite obstacles;
Cowardice is submissive surrender to circumstances.
Courage breeds creativity; Cowardice represses fear and is mastered by it.
Cowardice asks the question, is it safe?
Expediency ask the question, is it politic?
Vanity asks the question, is it popular?

But conscience ask the question, is it right? And there comes a time when we must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because it is right.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

Courage rises up within us when we know that we know a change needs to take place. It is present in those moments when it hurts too much to stay in the place of fear. So when we feel this uprising within our soul, it is time to act in a new way; to do what is right for our own growth.

It is usually a circumstance of fear that brings us to the place where we must access our stored up courage and face whatever the challenge at hand. This doesn’t come from the opinion of others but from our own inner source of self.

What is required to stand in the face of a difficult challenge is simply the act of looking it in the eye and standing firm. The courage will be felt in your being and whatever the challenge, it will begin to transform into something manageable. Fear can only live when we refuse to look it in the eye.

Gather the courage and create something new.
