If you’ve ever wondered, what is Reiki, you’re not alone.
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice that supports relaxation, nervous system regulation, and restoration.
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese terms:
- Rei – universal wisdom or higher consciousness
- Ki – life force energy
Together, Reiki is often translated as “spiritually guided life force energy.”
In practice, Reiki is experienced as a return.
A return to calm.
A return to clarity.
A return to internal alignment.
How Does Reiki Work?
During a Reiki session, you remain fully clothed while lying comfortably on a massage table. I gently place my hands on or slightly above the body.
There is no force.
No manipulation.
No performance.
Reiki supports the body in shifting out of stress and into regulation.
When the nervous system softens:
- Breath deepens
- Muscles release
- Mental noise quiets
- Emotional processing becomes safer
The body remembers how to rebalance itself.
Reiki does not override your system.
It supports it.
My Approach as a Reiki Master Teacher
I have practiced and taught Reiki for over 15 years as both a practitioner and Reiki Master Teacher.
My approach blends traditional Usui Reiki training with nervous system awareness, embodied leadership principles, and the coherence framework I teach in my writing and coaching work.
Reiki, in my practice, is not something I “do” to someone.
It is a regulated relationship with life force energy.
Whether sessions are in person in Santa Fe or at a distance, the focus is the same:
Safety. Presence. Alignment.
What Are the Benefits of Reiki?
People experience Reiki differently, but common reported benefits include:
• Deep relaxation
• Reduced stress and tension
• Improved sleep
• Clearer thinking
• Emotional release
• Greater self-awareness
• A grounded sense of connection
Reiki complements medical and therapeutic care — it does not replace it.
It works with the body’s natural intelligence, supporting balance across physical, emotional, and energetic levels.

Reiki and Coherence
Within my broader body of work, Reiki supports coherence — the regulated relationship between truth, integrity, courage, and love.
When we are overwhelmed or disconnected from our bodies, our decisions feel forced.
Reiki helps restore internal regulation so that:
- Choices feel cleaner
- Boundaries feel clearer
- Leadership feels steadier
- Action feels less urgent
Reiki is not about chasing energy.
It is about restoring relationship with it.
